FedEx Holiday Schedule for 2026 and 2027

FedEx's 2026 schedule has seven closed days: Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day itself (Saturday, July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day 2027. On most of the other holidays people ask about, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, FedEx picks up and delivers but runs what it calls modified service: on-call pickups and drop box pickups happen earlier than usual, and some drop boxes are closed, in some areas. Juneteenth is a normal working day. The dates below come from FedEx's holiday shipping schedule, its 2026 winter holiday service schedule and its 2026 shipping deadlines for holiday packages. FedEx says the dates can change and posts any updates on that page.

Every 2026 holiday and what FedEx is doing

The status column is FedEx's own wording. Closed means no pickups or deliveries. Modified service means pickups and deliveries run, with earlier on-call and drop box pickups in some areas. Open means a normal day. FedEx Office stores keep their own hours, covered further down.

FedEx Custom Critical, the urgent service FedEx quotes separately, is listed as open on every one of these days, including Christmas.

The holidays FedEx is open

The federal holidays are where FedEx differs most from the post office. Post offices are closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day and Veterans Day; FedEx is running on all five, with early pickups on four of them and a normal day on Juneteenth. Good Friday, which is not a postal holiday, is a modified-service day at FedEx.

FedEx also closes on the holiday itself rather than the federal observed day. July 4, 2026 falls on a Saturday, so the federal government observed it on Friday, July 3. FedEx ran modified service on July 3 and closed on Saturday the 4th, which is the day its Saturday pickups and deliveries would otherwise have run. Check the table rather than assuming a Friday or Monday closure around a weekend holiday.

What modified service changes for you

FedEx's own description of modified service is entirely about pickups: on-call pickups happen earlier in the day, drop boxes are emptied earlier and some are closed, and on December 24 and December 31 Ground pickups are modified as well. It says nothing about deliveries changing, and its Christmas chart schedules overnight deliveries for December 24, which is a modified-service day. The schedule also says nothing about regular daily pickups, so if you have one, have the day's packages ready early rather than assuming the usual time. Thanksgiving week, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

• Wednesday, November 25: modified service. FedEx Office locations have modified hours, with some closing early.
• Thursday, November 26: closed. FedEx says all locations and operations are unavailable.
• Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28: pickups and deliveries run, with early pickups in some areas.
• Wednesday, December 23: open, with early pickups in some areas.
• Thursday, December 24: modified service, including Ground pickups. Deliveries run: the overnight services shipped on December 23 are scheduled to arrive on December 24, and FedEx SameDay runs on December 24 itself.
• Friday, December 25: closed.
• Saturday, December 26: open, with early pickups in some areas. Monday, December 28 is a normal day.
• Thursday, December 31: modified service, including Ground pickups.
• Friday, January 1, 2027: closed. Saturday, January 2: open, with early pickups in some areas.

One more peak-season change matters if you promise customers a morning delivery. From November 23 through January 4, FedEx extends its delivery commitment times by 90 minutes on FedEx First Overnight, Priority Overnight, 2Day AM and the First Overnight and Priority Overnight Extra Hours services within the US, plus several inbound international services. Last days to ship for delivery by December 24

FedEx publishes one chart of last ship dates for arrival by Thursday, December 24, 2026. The Express services have a single date each. Ground and Home Delivery have five, one per transit band, because the answer depends on how many transit days your lane takes.

To use the Ground rows, look up your origin and destination ZIP codes on FedEx's Ground transit map and read the matching row. Transit is typically one to five business days within the contiguous US and three to seven to and from Alaska and Hawaii. If you see December 19 quoted elsewhere for three-day Ground, FedEx's own chart says Monday, December 21. The Ground dates also assume a regular scheduled pickup or a drop-off at a staffed FedEx location, so a package left in a drop box late on the last day can miss it. If you ship to Canada, Mexico or Puerto Rico, the same chart gives these dates. They do not include time for customs clearance, so FedEx suggests allowing extra days outside major cities.

FedEx Office on holidays

FedEx Office stores run on a separate calendar from the trucks. They are open on the modified-service days in the table and on Juneteenth, although on July 3, the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve some locations close early. On Easter, Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day they keep modified hours and some stores close. On Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day they are closed. Hours vary by store, so look yours up on the FedEx Office locations page before you drive over on a holiday.

Expected FedEx holidays in 2027

FedEx has not published a 2027 schedule beyond the first two days of the year: New Year's Day is closed and Saturday, January 2 is open with early pickups in some areas. If FedEx repeats its 2026 pattern, the 2027 closures would be:

• Memorial Day, Monday, May 31
• Independence Day, Sunday, July 4
• Labor Day, Monday, September 6
• Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25
• Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25
• New Year's Day 2028, Saturday, January 1

Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 18), Presidents Day (February 15), Good Friday (March 26), Columbus Day (October 11) and Veterans Day (November 11) would be modified-service days, as would the Wednesday and Friday around Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Two dates are genuinely open questions. The federal government will observe Independence Day on Monday, July 5 and Christmas on Friday, December 24, 2027; in 2026 FedEx ran modified service on the federal observed day rather than closing, so there is no reason yet to assume it closes on either. Treat every 2027 date as expected until FedEx posts its calendar. This page will be updated when it does.

Yes. On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, FedEx runs modified service: packages are picked up and delivered, with earlier on-call and drop box pickups in some areas. USPS is closed that day.

No. FedEx is closed on Thursday, November 26, 2026. It runs modified service on Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27, and has early pickups in some areas on Saturday, November 28.

Yes. Thursday, December 24, 2026 is a modified-service day: deliveries run, overnight packages shipped on December 23 are scheduled to arrive December 24, and on-call, drop box and Ground pickups are earlier or limited in some areas. FedEx is closed on December 25.

Is FedEx open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Yes. In 2026 FedEx ran modified service on Monday, January 19: pickups and deliveries, with earlier pickups in some areas. FedEx has not yet published its schedule for Monday, January 18, 2027.

Does FedEx deliver on Juneteenth?

Yes. Friday, June 19, 2026 was a normal working day for FedEx, although post offices were closed.
