How the Shopify integration works

STEP 01

Connect Simpl to your Shopify store

OAuth handshake authorizes Simpl to read orders, write inventory, and post fulfillments. No middleware, no CSV uploads, no developer. Connect additional Plus expansion stores to the same Simpl account in the same flow.

STEP 02

Map locations and send inventory

Each Shopify location maps to a Simpl fulfillment center. Send inventory, and Simpl writes back live counts on the first sync. Variants, bundles, and kit catalog rules come across so one SKU on Shopify becomes the right component picks at the warehouse.

STEP 03

Orders sync in real time, tracking writes back

New orders arrive via the orders/create webhook within seconds. Shopify's native order-routing rules send each order to the closest Simpl FC with stock. Once shipped, the carrier and tracking number post to the Shopify order so the buyer gets Shopify's standard shipping confirmation email.

The OAuth install from the Shopify admin takes a few clicks. End-to-end onboarding, including location mapping, inventory transfer, and the first live order, is scoped to your SKU mix and volume during the first call. There is no developer work; if you can install a Shopify app, you can connect Simpl.
Do my customers still get Shopify's native shipping and tracking emails after Simpl ships?
Yes. Simpl posts fulfillments through Shopify's Admin API with the carrier, tracking number, and tracking URL. Shopify sends its standard shipping confirmation email from your store, with your branding, and the buyer clicks through to Shopify's native tracking page.
Can I connect multiple Shopify stores under one Simpl account?

How does Simpl prevent overselling during peak or a flash sale?
Two mechanisms. First, real-time inventory write-back to Shopify on every receive, pick, adjustment, and return keeps available-to-sell accurate at the location level. Second, configurable buffer inventory per SKU per location reserves units you cannot afford to oversell during a launch, without freezing real sellable stock.
What happens to a return that is initiated in Shopify?
Returns initiated in the Shopify admin or by the buyer through Shopify's native returns flow trigger Simpl's receive workflow through the Returns API. Items are inspected and graded on arrival. Restock-eligible units are back to sellable in Shopify, at the right location, within 48 hours.
Can I trigger Simpl actions from Shopify Flow or order tags?
Yes. Any Shopify Flow workflow or order tag can fire a Simpl action: hold for QC, expedite, gift-wrap, priority pick, B2B pack-out, insert assignment.
