Cratejoy integration

Cratejoy fulfillment built around your renewal date.

Simpl ships your Cratejoy subscription boxes from our Texas warehouse — cycle-date kitting, custom inserts per cycle, and buffer stock for late renewals. From a 3PL that runs subscription boxes every day.

Yes, Simpl ships Cratejoy subscription boxes.

Simpl Fulfillment is a 3PL that runs subscription-box operations as a first-class workflow. Onboarding handles the Cratejoy connection on your behalf. Shipments are kitted to your renewal date and cutoff window, so we pack and ship the whole cycle together instead of one order at a time. Tracking writes back to each Cratejoy shipment, and inventory stays accurate as skips, gifts, and cancellations land between cycles. Every Simpl client gets a dedicated account manager reachable by email with same-day responses. Pricing starts at $7/order; we ship for subscription brands doing 50 to 5,000+ orders per month.

How it works

How the Cratejoy integration works

STEP 01

Connect your Cratejoy store

Onboarding sets up the Cratejoy connection on your behalf. Stores on both Cratejoy Marketplace and self-hosted Cratejoy Subscriptions are supported through the same flow. No developer required on your side.

STEP 02

Map products and load the cycle catalog

Each subscription product maps to a cycle bill of materials in Simpl: the SKUs in this month's box, the welcome box, and any variant tracks. Inserts, samples, and surprise items attach to the cycle, not the SKU.

STEP 03

Shipment batches land before the renewal date

On renewal day, Cratejoy generates the shipment batch for the cycle. Orders flow into Simpl with subscriber details, variant selections, gift messages, and term (monthly, quarterly, prepaid). We kit the entire batch in one pass instead of one box at a time.

STEP 04

Pack the cycle, ship, write tracking back

Picks, packs, and labels run together for the batch. Tracking writes back to each Cratejoy shipment. Late-renewal stragglers (failed cards, address fixes) pick up from buffer stock and ship as they clear, without holding the whole cycle.

What syncs

What syncs between Cratejoy and Simpl

Every order, inventory level, and return — with the direction and mechanism for each data flow.

The decision sellers face

Built for the cycle, not the order

A subscription box is not a DTC order with a bow on it. The pressure lands on one date, the composition changes every cycle, and a late renewal can blow up your unit economics. These are the workflows Simpl runs every cycle.

Cycle-date kitting at scale

We kit the entire shipment batch in one pass on the renewal date. Component SKUs come together the way an assembly line builds one product, not the way a DTC warehouse picks one order at a time.

Inserts and personalization per cycle

Themed packaging, custom inserts, surprise items, VIP-tier handwritten notes, and variant tracks attach to the cycle, not the SKU. New theme next month means a new insert pack, not a new product setup.

Buffer stock for late renewals

Failed cards, address corrections, and last-minute upgrades land after the main cycle ships. We hold a configurable buffer of each cycle's components so stragglers ship within the renewal window instead of pushing into next month's box.

Welcome-box workflow for new subscribers

New signups that join mid-cycle get a distinct welcome SKU set, not leftovers from last month. Welcome cycles route to a separate pick list automatically.

Why Simpl

Why Cratejoy sellers choose Simpl

CYCLE-NATIVE OPS

An ops model built for renewal dates, not DTC tempo.

Subscription boxes are quiet for three weeks, then thousands of identical boxes in 48 hours. Simpl staffs and routes around the cycle so the renewal-day spike is the plan, not the surprise.

KITTING AS A WORKFLOW

Kitting is core, not an add-on line item.

Kitting, insert assembly, and themed packaging run as a standard workflow with bill-of-materials at the cycle level. New theme, new variant track, new welcome box — we set it up without re-onboarding.

CHURN-AWARE INVENTORY

Inventory math that respects skips, gifts, and churn.

Skips reduce cycle demand. Gifts ship once. Cancellations drop the next renewal but not the current one. Simpl reconciles all of that against the shipment batch so you do not over-kit or pay storage on components you no longer need.

DEDICATED SUBSCRIPTION TEAM

A team that has run subscription cycles before.

Simpl runs a dedicated subscription-box service with kitting bays, cycle calendars, and account managers who plan the renewal date with you weeks in advance — see /services/subscription-box-fulfillment.

Transparent pricing built for subscription economics.

Three components: storage per warehouse storage type per month (bin, shelf, or pallet), kitting and pack at the cycle level (priced by component count, not per-box surprise fees), and outbound at carrier rates with live rate-shopping. No Q4 storage premium, no per-cycle setup tax. Quotes come back against your real SKU mix, subscriber count, and ship cadence.

FAQ

Cratejoy fulfillment FAQ

How long does it take to connect my Cratejoy store to Simpl?
Onboarding sets up the Cratejoy connection on your behalf. End-to-end onboarding — receiving cycle components, setting up the bill of materials, configuring inserts, and shipping the first live batch — is scoped to your subscriber count, cycle composition, and renewal date on the first call. No developer work is required on your side.
Does Simpl actually kit the box, or do I have to pre-kit?
We kit. Cycle-date kitting is a core workflow. Send us the component SKUs (the candle, the snack, the pin, the printed insert) and we build the curated box for the entire shipment batch on the renewal date. Pre-kitted boxes are welcome too if that is how your supply chain works.
How does Simpl handle skips, pauses, and gift orders?
Skips and pauses received through Cratejoy before the cycle is kitted suppress the shipment for that subscriber and free up the components. Gift orders ship once with a gift message and do not roll into the next cycle. Both behaviors are driven by the data Cratejoy sends to Simpl, so customer-portal requests are honored without manual cleanup.
What happens when a renewal fails or an address changes after the cycle ships?
Simpl holds a configurable buffer of each cycle's components so straggler shipments built after the main batch ship within the renewal window. The straggler queue is its own workflow — we do not push these into next month's cycle and we do not hold the whole batch for one failed card.
How do welcome boxes and variant tracks work?
Welcome boxes are a distinct workflow. New signups that join mid-cycle get a distinct welcome SKU set, not leftovers from last month, routed to a separate pick list automatically. Variant tracks (kids vs. adult, scented vs. unscented, themed) attach to the same cycle recipe so a single batch can contain multiple curated variants.
What about inserts, custom packaging, and surprise items?
Custom inserts, themed mailers, tissue, crinkle, stickers, and surprise add-ons run as standard cycle inputs, not as add-on line items. Send us next month's insert pack and the kit recipe; we receive, store, and assemble. Same for anniversary boxes, VIP tier surprises, and seasonal limited editions.
Does Simpl support both Cratejoy Marketplace and self-hosted Cratejoy Subscriptions stores?
Yes. Both Marketplace listings and self-hosted Cratejoy Subscriptions sites connect through the same Simpl onboarding flow. Stores running both pool inventory across both surfaces.
How is pricing calculated, and where can I learn more about Simpl's subscription-box service?
Three components: storage per warehouse storage type per month (bin, shelf, or pallet), kitting and pack priced at the cycle level by component count (a five-SKU curated box is not billed like five separate pick-and-pack events), and outbound shipping at carrier rates with live rate-shopping. No Q4 surcharge, no per-cycle setup fees. The full service page at /services/subscription-box-fulfillment covers the team, the kitting bays, and what we do between renewal dates.
