ShipMonk Reviews (2026): Ratings, Fit, and What to Check Before Signing

What ShipMonk customers praise and complain about, how its quote-based pricing and minimum work, who it fits, and the alternatives to compare.

The short answer

ShipMonk's happiest customers write about their account reps and how smooth onboarding was. Its unhappy ones write about what came after: inventory that went missing, late orders, slow ticket replies and fees they didn't see coming, especially when they left. On Trustpilot that adds up to 2.6 out of 5 across 430 reviews: 69% five stars, 22% one star, and few in between.

ShipMonk doesn't publish rates, and its monthly minimum is built from a pick fee you only learn in a quote. If you want inventory in several regions or abroad, ShipMonk is worth a quote. If you need to know your monthly bill before signing, or you ship a few dozen orders a month, start with the fit section below.

What ShipMonk customers praise

Most of the recent five-star reviews name a person. Reviewers thank a specific account rep or "Happiness Engineer" for quick answers, for fixing a problem, or for walking them through setup. Onboarding comes up often, and a few reviewers call the app easy to set up and use. One reviewer says their company left for a more local 3PL and came back. Another, who had moved on, says ShipMonk did most of what it promised and simply wasn't the right fit for their business.

Keep the score's age in mind. Only 21 reviews of any kind arrived in the past 12 months, and Trustpilot notes that ShipMonk hasn't invited customers to review recently. The 2.6 leans on older reviews and won't move much either way.

What customers complain about

Most reviews posted in early September 2026 aren't about fulfillment. In August, Trezor disclosed that a breach at ShipMonk exposed data on 80,689 Trezor customers, including older order data Trezor says it had been told was deleted. Many of those one-star reviews are reactions to that.

Set those aside and the merchant complaints repeat the same few problems:

  • Inventory: stock lost, miscounted or held in quarantine while storage kept billing.
  • Late orders: shipments going out days or weeks later than the merchant expected.
  • Slow support: polite replies that take days and don't solve the problem.
  • Fees: shipping charges higher than expected, special-project fees, and the cost of getting inventory back after leaving.

Several reviewers describe the same arc: onboarding went well, then things slipped a few months in. Reviews are self-selected and we can't verify any of them, so read this as a list of things to pin down before signing, not a failure rate.

The most detailed recent review is a two-star one from September 17, 2026, by a merchant who used ShipMonk for about two years. They describe returns stuck in quarantine while storage billed, fulfillment paused when their prepaid balance went slightly negative, a wholesale shipment declared lost and then shipped after they'd replaced it, a customs paperwork charge that was never reimbursed, and a final storage invoice they dispute. ShipMonk replied publicly four days later that it had escalated the feedback to its leadership team.

What ShipMonk costs and how its minimum works

ShipMonk's pricing page lists no dollar rates. Picking and packing, storage, receiving, returns and postage are all quoted. What it does publish is the minimum formula: your monthly order volume times your first-item pick fee, minus 20%. At 400 orders a month, the minimum is 320 times whatever pick fee you're quoted. Batches of identical subscription or crowdfunding orders need at least 50 orders, or a batching fee applies.

That minimum is built from pick fees, so postage sits on top of it. Many 3PLs set their minimum on fulfillment fees alone, which makes it look lower than one that includes postage. Ours is $750 a month and counts postage, because our per-order rate includes it.

The Simpl column uses our typical $7–8 per order, which covers postage, packaging, packing and up to three picks. Your actual number depends on package weight, shipping service and how much you store, so treat it as arithmetic, not a quote. Carrier surcharges, when they apply, are billed per our terms.

Two clauses in ShipMonk's posted terms, an older version dated November 2019, can change the monthly total. After the first 90 days, volume below your forecast can trigger repricing, and the pick fee rises 5% on each anniversary. Ask whether both are in the agreement you'd actually sign.

Who ShipMonk fits, and who should look harder

No order count settles this. It depends on where your customers are, how steady your volume is, and how much you need to know before you sign.

Your situation

What it suggests

What to verify

You want inventory in several regions or countries

ShipMonk is worth a quote: its locations directory lists sites across North America, the UK and Europe.

Which buildings would hold your stock and how close they are to your customers.

You need a predictable monthly total before signing

Go carefully: every ShipMonk rate is quoted, and the posted terms allow repricing.

Itemized rates, the minimum in dollars, surcharge triggers and the agreement, in writing.

Your volume swings by season

Ask how your forecast is used, since the posted terms tie repricing to volume below forecast.

You ship a few dozen orders a month

A 3PL minimum may not fit yet, and keeping fulfillment in-house for now is a fair answer. Ours is $750 a month, pay-the-difference: roughly 90 to 100 light packages on standard shipping, fewer if your orders are heavier, larger or ship faster.

Your actual monthly order count, package weights and the time packing takes you.

On the warehouse question, ShipMonk's pages don't agree on the count. A July 2026 announcement says it runs 12+ owned-and-operated fulfillment centers, while the locations directory lists ten addresses. California's layoff-notice report also lists a planned closure of its San Bernardino site effective June 30, 2026. If your quote names a warehouse, ask whether it's operating today.

ShipMonk alternatives to compare

Which alternative makes sense depends on why ShipMonk doesn't fit.

  • You want another multi-warehouse network: ShipBob is the usual head-to-head. Its terms of service let you end the agreement at any time if you have no balance due, unlike ShipMonk's one-year renewing term. Our ShipMonk vs ShipBob breakdown goes through the rest.
  • You want published per-order pricing and one warehouse: that's how we work. See ShipMonk vs Simpl, or the short version below.
  • You want a wider list: our ShipMonk alternatives roundup and ShipMonk vs Red Stag cover more options.
  • You're below most minimums: keep packing orders yourself until the volume justifies a 3PL.

One more Simpl detail, since lost and wrong orders are a theme in the reviews above: our order accuracy is 99.99%, and when we make an error we cover the return shipping and re-fulfillment. If you need inventory near customers in several regions or abroad, pick ShipMonk's network over us: every Simpl order ships from Austin.

If you're with ShipMonk and thinking of leaving

The posted terms describe a one-year term that renews each year unless you give 30 days' notice. A separate clause lets you close your account for any reason on 30 days' written notice, and the two don't obviously agree, so ask which one applies to you. When you close, ShipMonk's standard quoted pick-and-pack rates apply to inventory shipped back to you. Exit costs come up in several of the negative reviews, so check your signed agreement and get the cost of moving your inventory in writing before you book a transfer.

Questions to ask before you sign or switch

  • Can I have every rate itemized in writing, including pick and pack, storage, receiving, returns and postage?
  • What is my monthly minimum in dollars, and which charges count toward it?
  • Which warehouse will hold my inventory, and is it operating today?
  • How long do you keep my customers' names, addresses and phone numbers after delivery, and can a deletion period go in the contract?
  • What happens when my prepaid balance runs low?
  • Who pays when your error causes a carrier, customs or re-shipping cost?
  • What will it cost to get my inventory back if I leave?
  • Who is my escalation contact when an order or invoice goes wrong?

Ask every 3PL on your list the same questions, us included. Our 3PL data security checklist covers the customer-data questions in more detail.

If you're weighing a ShipMonk quote, our pricing page shows how per-order billing works, and get started lets you send your order count, package weights and products for a quote. Our minimum is $750 a month, pay-the-difference: in a month your orders bill under that, you pay only the gap.

We're Simpl Fulfillment, a 3PL in Austin that competes with ShipMonk, so weigh our side-by-side accordingly.

FAQs

Are ShipMonk reviews good?

They're split. In October 2026, ShipMonk had 2.6 out of 5 from 430 reviews on Trustpilot, with 69% five-star and 22% one-star reviews. Five-star reviews mostly praise specific account reps, onboarding and the app. One- and two-star reviews from merchants mostly describe lost or miscounted inventory, late orders, slow support and unexpected fees.

How much does ShipMonk cost?

ShipMonk doesn't publish rates. Its pricing page says picking and packing, storage, receiving, returns and postage are all priced in a custom quote. Ask for every fee itemized in writing for your order count, package weights and inventory, then add the lines together to get a monthly total.

Does ShipMonk have a monthly minimum?

Yes. ShipMonk's pricing page says the minimum is your monthly order volume times your first-item pick fee, reduced by 20%, so at 400 orders it equals 320 times your pick fee. The pick fee comes from your quote and postage is billed on top, so ask for the minimum in dollars.

What do ShipMonk customers complain about?

In merchant reviews on Trustpilot, the repeated complaints are inventory that went missing or was miscounted, orders shipping late, support that takes days to resolve a problem, and fees the merchant didn't expect, including the cost of moving inventory out after leaving. Many one-star reviews from September 2026 are reactions to the data breach Trezor disclosed, not to fulfillment work.

Can I leave ShipMonk?

ShipMonk's posted terms, in a version dated November 2019, describe a one-year term that renews unless you give 30 days' notice, plus a separate clause letting you close your account on 30 days' written notice. When you close, standard pick-and-pack rates apply to inventory shipped back to you. Check your signed agreement and get the exit cost in writing.

What ShipMonk alternatives should I compare?

It depends on why ShipMonk doesn't fit. ShipBob is the usual comparison if you want another multi-warehouse network. A single-warehouse 3PL with published per-order pricing, like Simpl, suits brands that want to know the bill before signing. If you ship only a few dozen orders a month, packing them yourself for now can be the right call. Ask every option the same questions about rates, minimums, warehouse location, data retention and exit costs.
