Does DHL Deliver to PO Boxes? Express vs. eCommerce

It depends on which DHL service carries the package. DHL Express won't deliver to a PO box: its US shipping FAQ says shipments "cannot be delivered to PO Boxes or postal boxes." DHL eCommerce works differently: USPS completes the final mile for all of its deliveries under an agreement the two announced in May 2026. That handoff alone doesn't tell you whether a DHL eCommerce label will accept a PO-box address.

So before you promise PO-box delivery on a DHL eCommerce label, check with DHL or your shipping software. For DHL Express, you need a different carrier or a different address.

Which DHL service are you using?

Check the service name on the label or in your shipping software. DHL eCommerce's US domestic products include DHL Parcel, Parcel Plus, and BPM, with delivery times quoted in average postal days: 3 to 8 for Ground and 2 to 5 for Expedited.

DHL's 2026 Parcel and Parcel Plus sheet says DHL sorts those parcels before "handing them off to the postal network for final delivery." Your customer only gave you a PO box

Don't ship that order with DHL Express, which won't deliver to PO boxes. You have three ways to get it there:

• Ship it with USPS instead.
• Ask the customer for a street address.
• Use the box's street-style address. At Premium PO Box locations that offer Street Addressing, the address can be the post office's street address followed by "#" and the box number, and USPS says this lets the box receive packages from private carriers such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, or Amazon.

Street Addressing works only at post offices that offer it, so the customer should check with their own post office before giving you that address.

Does DHL use USPS?

DHL eCommerce does. According to USPS, DHL eCommerce handles pickup, sorting, and linehaul, then USPS completes the final mile for all deliveries. So if your tracking shows a USPS carrier on the last leg of a DHL eCommerce shipment, that's the normal handoff.

Military addresses (APO, FPO, DPO)

DHL Express doesn't ship to military addresses: its FAQ says only USPS is authorized to deliver to APO, FPO, or DPO addresses. On the eCommerce side, DHL does ship to them on Parcel, Parcel Plus, and BPM Ground and Expedited services, but not on its Max service.
